On Resonance
two tiny thoughts about boats, recorded months apart in my 2020 notebook
“The Wind Has Died” by Charles Simic:
My little boat,
Take care,There is no
Land in sight.
and this Old Breton prayer which I copied from an On Being email written by the lovely Pádraig Ó Tuama:
God help me because the sea is so big and my boat is so small.
I hope to be back after Thanksgiving with a real newsletter. Until then, I hope you are taking the care you can — of yourself and of others. It’s none of it easy, friends, but the water is still beautiful and the boat sturdy.
